With much excitement, we'd like to announce that our showroom is now open!
We have always welcomed visitors from near and far to our Denver, Colorado workshop for tours to check out where the magic happens. Previously we've kept just a small amount of stock of wood plugs and adornment on hand, so while the OO Workshop was a fun place to stop by, it wasn't the best place to shop…until now!
The last month or so has been spent renovating the front area of our shop into a beautiful, well lit, spacious, and most importantly, well-stocked showroom. Lights were installed, walls were torn down or painted, windows added, wood flooring was laid, cases built and mounted, art work was hung, and tons of plugs and pendants were crafted.
We've created this space, so when you visit you have a place. A place to feel welcomed, to see what we've been working on, to ask questions, place orders, or pick up something special. Each week the Omerica Organic Design Team works on a new wood plug style or two with the help of our Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr followers. We come up with up with an idea and create sketches, posting them each Tuesday for feedback from our fans. We then implement changes as needed and create prototype blocks of each plug style, complete with inlays and etched details that we post on social media on Wednesday. Thursday we finalize all the design details, launch the new style or styles to our website, and post finished photos on Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram. An entire design cycle in one week pulled off by a design team of two; it's incredibly fun, challenging and rewarding, and also integral in helping us keep up the flow of fresh wood plugs and unique body jewelry styles to our site.
The new plugs we launched in July are pictured above and listed/linked below and were inspired primarily by summertime, nostalgia, and fan requests.

We get a lot of questions about our Teardrop Plugs, so we decided to take some time here to throw down a little information.
Q: What size teardrop plugs should I order?
A: The same size you normally wear your plugs!
Q: How are teardrop plugs measured?
A: Teardrop plugs are measured by circumference. This is why you'd order the same size of teardrops that you normally wear in plugs, they'll be the same size around.
Q: How do I check the size of a pair of teardrop plugs?
A: To check the size of a teardrop plug, wrap a string around the wearing surface and mark where one end on the string meets the other. Then measure that segment of string and divide by pi- 3.14 to get the diameter. Diameter is the measurement you see used for round plugs.
Q: Does wearing teardrop plugs feel different?
A: In general, no, it feels the same as wearing round plugs. At larger sizes, teardrop plugs may feel a bit different because of the different weight distribution and having your earlobes closer to your head.
Q: Can I wear normal plugs again after wearing teardrop plugs?
A: Absolutely! Teardrop plug wear will in no way change the shape of your ears.

Sometimes the best projects are the ones that find you...
We were initially contacted by Colorado Ski Country USA back in April of last year, with an interest in us creating their 2014-2015 Gold Pass Medallion. If you live in Colorado or have an interest in Winter sports, yes, we did fan-girl (at least a little) over the opportunity to design and craft Colorado’s most exclusive winter pass.
Traditionally, the Gold Pass Medallion has been cast in brass or bronze, but last year, concerns over interference with RFID readers led the folks at Colorado Ski Country USA to open up their material considerations. They wanted a beautiful, thoughtfully designed, expertly crafted medallion that celebrated what a Gold Pass is, and communicated the exclusivity of owning one.
Our design team dove right in, and over the next several months, worked out all the details of the design. It was interesting for our team to work on a larger scale than we're accustomed to with wood plugs, it allowed us to utilize tons of detail and integrate more inlays that would be feasible on a smaller scale. Prototypes were made, meetings were held, and at the beginning of September we began production of the 2014-2015 Gold Pass Medallion.
After having made 200 medallions from locally sourced Beetle Kill Pine, each hand set with 12 individual inlays, all precision etched with an incredible amount of detail; we can say that without a doubt, this was an amazing opportunity and a project we truly enjoyed being a part of.
We're very fortunate to have been asked to create the 2015-2016 gold pass as well. Our design team has worked closely with Colorado Ski to design and prototype the passes, and we're working now to craft 200 by early September. Keep an eye out, this year's design is stunning!

Back in May of this year, we finally debuted our online wholesale ordering system. This was a revolutionary development, because it streamlines wholesale account setup, ordering, and store locator additions.
